Asthma is a very fatal and chronic condition which is caused by airway obstruction and narrowing of the bronchial lines. This condition occurs in anyone may it be a child or an adult or an old. It occurs in different types and has symptoms like shortness of breath, chest pain, chest tightness, wheezing, cough, and infection. Many factors lead to the exacerbation of asthma. Research has shown that more and more number of people are diagnosed with this fatal condition especially children and the adults.

It can be prevented by many different medication and anti-inflammatory drugs. Even bronchodilators and inhalers are also used in curing the symptoms. Herbal medications also play a supportive role with yoga and exercise. These all helps in curing the flare ups of asthma attacks and help in controlling them.

Even the food that we eat daily also plays a vital role in healing and preventing asthma. The researchers have found out that children, who drink plenty of milk, eat lots of butter, and dairy products have less chances of developing asthma. It was also found out that those who consumed plenty of dairy products have less wheezing. Thus it was proved that dairy products help in fighting with asthma attacks. Whole grains also help in preventing and controlling asthma flares along with whole wheat bread, cereals, etc. It is also proved that by eating more and more of whole food grains the chances of asthma is reduced or lessened to a great degree. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also the major contributing factors in alleviating asthma symptoms. Fish oil also helps in reducing asthma symptoms. Moreover, pure vegetarian diet is the best diet for asthma patients.

The food that asthma patients take must comprise of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats which are acid-forming foods. Alkaline foods consisting of fresh fruits, green vegetables, and sprouted seeds and grains are also helpful. Appropriate diet pattern should be maintained including timely breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Eating habit should be proper and the asthmatic should eat less than the capacity. They should eat slowly and drink plenty of water. Honey is considered the best treatment for asthma.

Avoidance of tea, alcoholic beverages, coffee, pickles, and processed foods is must. Modifying the diet pattern and consuming foods that lessen asthma symptoms can be extremely helpful and no changes should be made without consulting the physician concerned. Thus, asthma can be controlled with proper care and diet.
