Asthma Symptoms and Signs

Asthma sufferers have a hard time enjoying life. It is hard for you to enjoy being outside, being active in sporting events, or just being around certain smells and scents that others enjoy. Even lighting a scented candle can have adverse affects on the asthma sufferer. Life is so hard when you are dealing with this problem.

The symptoms of asthma are easily recognizable and should never be ignored. If you have been diagnosed with asthma already, knowing and understanding these signs and symptoms can mean the difference between the severity of the episode and being able to get to your medication in time. For those that have not experienced asthma before, these signs and symptoms will give you a warning that it is time to seek out professional care.

Breathing changes are the number one sign and symptom of asthma. This may include wheezing, coughing, tightness in the chest, or difficulty breathing. Some asthma sufferers experience episodes of sneezing, headaches, weakness, coughing, runny nose and eyes, and the inability to function because of feeling fatigued.

As the asthma worsens, these symptoms will worsen also. The individual may experience hunching of the shoulders in an attempt to breath, a change in the color of the skin to a gray or blue tint, or pain when trying to breathe. If any of these signs and symptoms appear, it is best to seek medical advice quickly and do not ignore them hoping they will go away. Being able to recognize and get help for your asthma will mean the difference between life and death.
