Read About the Symptoms of Asthma

An asthma attack results in narrowing and tightening of airways thus causing difficulty in breathing. So the major and most prominent symptom of an asthma attack is constricted, labored breathing. The patient will experience pain, pressure and uneasiness in the chest, wheezing and coughing. These are the primary symptoms of Asthma.

But these symptoms do not occur in the same severity to all asthmatic patients in all attacks. They tend to very, making the diagnosis of asthma more difficult.

Also asthma attacks may present more severe symptoms than these. All these symptoms may be present in an aggravated state for example very rapid breathing, severe and prolonged wheezing, uncontrollable coughing. In some cases pale faces also characterizes an asthmatic cases. Feeling panicky and anxiety is also a part of this attack. It may also result in difficulty in talking. Bluish fingernails or lips are also symptoms of asthma.

Symptoms are often worse during nights and early morning and after some physical activity. Some asthma patients may rarely undergo asthma symptoms in an attack whereas others experience continued airway obstruction.

In a case of an attack treatment is necessary, because if we don't go to a doctor and wait for the attack to pass, it would do no good as the symptoms intensify with time and continue to grow worse until proper medication is provided. In fact continued asthmatic problems if not treated may result in death of the patient, because the patient becomes unable to breathe over time. Though this is just the very extreme of cases and does not usually happen, it is a potential threat all the same.

There is no cure as such for asthma, all that is possible is to keep in check the symptoms by some medications. Though it has been seen that with years one may grow out of it. Who grows out of it and for whom it remains a life long disease can not be determined. It is very subjective and the exact reason behind it still remains unknown.
