Asthma and Migraine Headaches Explained

Asthma and Migraine headaches are most often hereditary and people are left wondering how and why they inherited such a disease. One must understand that asthma and migraines are not the same thing and though the symptoms may often leave them confused but in reality they are far from being considered the same disease.

Asthma patients are born with a respiratory system that doesn't allow them free space to breathe, every time the airway is threatened, and the respiratory tract constricts creating an inflammatory response as a defensive response. This in turn creates shortness of breath and the person feels the air is choking on them.

Migraine headaches on the other hand are natural in persons who inherit a sensitive nervous system, which is prone to be vigilant of its environment at every drop of a hat. The over sensitive nervous system makes such person well-organized and perceptive but at the same times it leads to heightened emotional vulnerability and frequent migraine attacks.

However, even though migraine headaches and asthma attacks are not similar, recent studies conducted by several scientists have revealed that both the diseases share a host of neurotransmitters. So, it is advisable to be careful about the medication one is taking and only after accurate diagnosis should they opt for treatment as drugs for one might worsen the condition for another.

Whenever you go to the doctor for medicines, make sure you understand what disease you are suffering from. It is advisable to get diagnosed with asthma or migraine and only then should you start medication.
